A five part poetic essay about immigrants who fish at a pier in New York. WHAT THE PIER GAVE US, lyrically captures the life of a pier in a year and through the seasons.

Many immigrants spend their evenings fishing on an undisclosed pier in New York City. In What the Pier Gave Us, a Mexican fisherman’s ordinary day becomes a metaphor for the brutal beauty of the immigration experience in the US.

Greyfields

An abandoned mall in Ohio was revived back to life by over twenty churches that rent the space. The mall faces possible demolition in face of a vibrant, predominantly Black Gospel community that is working hard to keep it alive.

Documentary style branded content for the Downtown DC Business Improvement District. The arc of the video is the sudden change in our lives due to the pandemic, the Black Lives Matter uprising, and the resilience of the Downtown DC community.

The Rights of Butterflies

 
 

Katya is an undocumented student who shares her struggles in pursuing higher education in Maryland.

The film was followed with a film tour impact campaign. The film screened at various high schools and universities in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Discussions were led by CASA De Maryland immigrant rights organizers who encouraged people to vote for the DREAM ACT. The DREAM ACT successfully passed the following year. Selected for the AFI SILVERDOCS FILM Festival, youth selection, and was featured on the WASHINGTON POST. 25min.
